You have a good point. I heard about this about a month ago talking about the Kensington notebook security cables. They use the same style round locks. I haven't verified it since I don't own one of those locks and probably wouldn't have bought one anyway. In Kensington's case, they have a $5000 equipment replacement guarantee which they refuse to honour because the lock failed instead of someone cutting the cable (that makes no sense to me).
