AC130 Specters missions are typically flown at night. The AC130 has
countermeasures such as flares and chaff along with its anti personnel
weapons. They use the cover of darkness, a bit of countermeasures, and
damn good pilots. 

Flying an AC130 is the special operations side of the US Air Force. They
are the best of the best.
