None of the LCD catalogues I have (GPO, Mutron, Varitronix,
Optrex etc) show anything bigger than 40x4. Not even 64-wide,
which is the single-line addressing range for many controllers. I
imagine the demand for 80x2 would be very low. If such a thing
doesn't exist you might be able to get them made, if whoever you
ask has the engineering facilities to do it. Would be very expensive
and you'd probably have to order a lot

You might have to settle for two 40x2 side-by-side. I have a very
small (68mmx7.5mm) 20x1 display that has hardly any frame at all,
a little less than 1mm compared to the usual 5mm metal + 5mm PCB.
If I had more they could be butted together to make a long display -
although there would be a small gap every 20 characters. That could
be something to investigate though. Instead of a bigger display, ask
about displays that can be stacked
