I'm trying to establish how "fast" the Intel Centrino processor is compared to a more normal Pentium 4 processor. I realise that that is a "how long is a piece of string" question. I've Googled and got a fair idea, but comments from people who have used them would be of interest. The target machine is to be used in a church multimedia role. Ability to record video to DVD and handle video editing is valued. Budget is closer to modest than to infinite. Alternatives are some sort of P4 (2.8 GHz or so) desktop or perhaps a Toshiba Tecra with 1.3 GHz Centrino and DVD recorder (good deal at wholesaler at present). The desktop is arguably cheaper per functionality, more flexible and much more annoying to transport.
