Some useful comments from another list: From: "Paul Breed" Analog devices has three gyro chips... ADXRS150 +/- 150deg/sec ADXRS300 +/- 300 deg/sec and a new part ADXRS401 +/- 75 deg/sec. The drift is not good, with good compensation drift is on the order of 0.3deg /sec. Digikey has the 150 and 300, to get the 401 you need to order directly from the analog devices site www.analog.com, if you are in the US this is usually cheaper than Digikey. If you are not a BGA soldering expert then you want an ADXRSxxxEB, where EB stands for Evaluation Board. a small PCB with the gyro already attached and presented as a 16 or 20 pin standard DIP. Analog is currently out of EB versions so you would need to order that from Digikey. I've ordered 4 of the ADXRS401's I'll let you know if their stability is better than the 150 in about 2 weeks. Please note that the gyro is also "G" sensitive. The best apogee detector would be smart, detect pitch or yaw change AFTER the acceration stops.
