More accurately I would describe your implementation as a subset of soap/xmlhttp, you probably won't be doing things like validating the incoming xml for well-formedness, raising soap exceptions, etc. What you described about spammers pop/ups doesn't make sense to me, it is usually through delays in scripts that they get popups to appear.
