I agree that in terms of the current cost of DASD it's not a big deal.  I
sort of suspected, though, that someone who had a version of MPLAB that
didn't support more recent PICs may well be using a 486 or something and
might find 134 Mb to be a lot.  With my PIC Elmer course I exchange email
with folks from all over the planet, and there are a lot of places where
PC's (and disk) aren't as cheap as they are here.  It does susprise me to
find PIC hobbyists in places where a 20 gig drive can cost a month's pay,
but I guess people are driven to learn everywhere.  Gotta admit, I didn't
really study OP's post to get a clue as to where he might be.  Even here,
though, a few of my students are back on 5.x partly because of the space
needed for 6.x, which includes not only MPLAB itself, but at least Win98SE
(a LOT of folks out there are still on OE or even 95) and IE5.5 (still a few
IE 4 and lots of Netscape 3.x).
