Hi, mike I worked with some of these barcode sensors and I think that they have too litle depth of view to be usefull in you application. It has the emitter and a phototransistor or photodiode and lenses in a TO5 can. They are made to stay in very close focus all the time.. I have the datasheets in paper somwhere.... I would have to dig really hard to find them. The rest of the circuit is uselles for any applications that are not related to barcode reading.. If you really want to try them out I can dig the datasheet for the sensor for you. Let me know if you need it. best regards, Alexandre Guimaraes > Has anyone ever played around with bar code scanning wands? > > The board seems to have a photodiode, some misc. components and a chip > labeled HP1987 5021-6284 a 8938 3547-02 -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different ways.
