I would advise you to download and try the software first - it also has the building instructions in it. Personally I'd go with Wouter's Wisp628 ( http://www.voti.nl/wisp628/kit/index.html ) although it's an "In Circuit" design so you'll need something like a solderless breadboard or a socket soldered into some stripboard if you haven't got a project with ICSP capability - see the last photo on that page for an example. If you *are* going for the El Cheapo, I'd recommend Randy Jones ( http://www.glitchbuster.com/ and scroll right to the bottom) for the parts - he does them as a set.
