Hi Adam, >It /should/ have no effect if you are not breaking any encryption or >copyright. If, however, if the sequencer talks to other sequencers and >you 'figured out' the communications then they might be able to show >that it was encrypted or something and try that. Good point, but nope, nothing like that going on >Catch-22. Either you're >using their "safe" code and breaking copyright, or you're using your own >'unsafe' code and putting their customers in danger. I'd hate to be at >the wrong end of that lawsuit. Very good point, but probably blunted by the lack of detailed regulation over here... basically if the public used it it would be illegal for them to do so anyway and any pro's buying it would have to make their own assesment before using it in any situation where the public are exposed. Nothing to stop them claiming lack of safety and trying to stop sales by reputation though. >I mean, the fact that >this company sells replacement chips speaks volumes about the >reliability of thier product which is safety critical, and can stop a >show if it fails in use, which is when it will fail. I must leap to their defence here :) the reprogramming service is only provided for those who want non standard timings on the sequences (it comes pre programmed with IMO rather boring equal times between firings from 100ms up to 1s, with my mod you can do some nice accellerations etc) The reliability of the stock product is fine. We've only had one 'show stopper' and that was due to an igniter wire not being tied down and the whole lot got launched into the air with a shell that decided to take it's match with it, that pulled out all the other wires and made the battery fall out so at least it failed safe :) >Whether it's ethical or not, I suspect in >this case it's not a very profitable business. I suspect you are entirely right... it's great fun though :) Cheers, Robin. P.S. check out this site for some fabulous pyro from valencia this year, some very nice sequences and mascleta madness! http://www.freakpyromaniacs.com/movies/categorie.php?cat=6 This email originates from AXA Sun Life Services Plc (reg. no. 3424940) which is a service company for the following companies within the AXA UK plc Group: AXA Sun Life Plc (reg. no. 3291349) Sun Life Assurance Society Plc (reg. no. 776273) Sun Life Unit Assurance Limited (reg. no. 975601) Sun Life Pensions Management Limited (reg. no. 1105141) AXA Equity & Law Life Assurance Society Plc (reg. no. 575435) All of the above mentioned companies are registered in England and have their registered office at 107 Cheapside, London EC2V 6DU, England.
