But it's very low current (2mA max). So a switched cap doubler can be
used to generate it if necessary.

And I almost always bring in a high DC voltage supply and regulate it
locally. With such low supply currents you can use a 78L05 in the TO92
package to regulate voltage for the microcontroller.
