I wouldn't give them the salary history, but I don't mind if they have a copy of my driver's license - they can pay for a driver's record if they want it. But that's just because I have a good record - I'd question them very specifically why they need it if driving is not included in the job description. If they want to know my previous salaries, they can ask about it in person at the interview - and I can find out why they need to know before divulging that information. Quite frankly, I'd not want to work for such a company. I'd rather answer relevant engineering knowledge and experience questions. Sounds like someone wants to quantify a person based on numbers they can relate to, rather than finding out if the person is really a good fit for the job. Unless, of course, "a good fit for the job" is defined as "the cheapest body we can get to do the minimum work necessary, and lay off if the financials start to look bad - and won't run into the president's car while parking" Be aware that HR departements are often responsible for the job listings and resume requests. They may ask for everything from everyone regardless of the job they are applying for because it takes less time than dividing everyone up. It may not even bother them that you don't include this information - it just goes into the database with blanks where you didn't fill out bits. -Adam Aaron G. wrote: >Suppose one is applying for a job and potential employer asks for "Resume >with complete employment and salary history" and "driver's record >verification". > >Never before have I submitted salary history - is it sufficient to list >merely list position, company, and final salary?
