Google is the backdoor to everything. On XP: go to device manager,
select the port, properties, advanced, and set the port.

Related: does anyone know how to delete an USB-to-serial driver for a
converter that is not present (I don't haev it around any more), an with
a driver that does not show in 'installed programs'?
