FWIW  For several years I have been using HSP56 (PcTel?) modem in a PCI
slot on a WINXP Pro system.  The device manager lists the driver as
coming from PcTel dated 06/25/2002   Version 9.0.16.3.  It has worked
well with both Netscape and Mozilla,  You might take a look at the
