I think you have a "virus" called HSP PCtel! Get a modem. ----- Original Message -----=20 From: "carlosmarcano78@cantv.net" To: Sent: Friday, June 25, 2004 9:30 PM Subject: [OT]: XP Professional and HSP modem... Hi list. I was wondering if anyone could give me a hint to fix this annoyance I am having. I recently installed Windoze XP Professional in my box. Everything ran smooth and clean. The thing is that when I connect to my ISP with my dial-up connection (yes, that still exists!) everything works fine for a couple of minutes then a dialog box appears with a "Windows will close" message. It says that the system conflicted with the connection and that it needs to shut down. Now, I suspect this got to be with windows havign trouble with mi winmodem, a HSP PCtel, because when I installed it=B4s driver it said that wasnt digitally signed to be compliancing with XP. Could I be right? Is there a solution? The other thing that makes me suspect is that a friend of mine recently installed XP pro too in a very different box but with the same modem and is getting the same problem. Have anybody here experienced the same problem? Any help will be appreciated.
