I actually managed to FIX a laptop screen by carefully taking it apart and replacing the CCFL backlight bulb with one from a surplus place. I was pretty proud of myself :-) There's some standardization of LCD screens, but not a whole lot, especially over several generations of laptop. You might be able to find something on ebay.
