I have a test board with two PIC18F452s. Each has the plug for the ICD2. At first only one of the 452's would correctly ID. I found a shorted PC trace on the other, and it ID's and programs correctly. Now the 452 which did ID doesn't... I suspected a similar trace failure... nothing, and it measures fine. I have no capacitors on the MCLR, or PGM data, or PGM clock lines. (I did have a .1uFd on the MCLR but the ICD2 recommends no cap.) The 452s are getting a 10 MHz clock. They are both powered by the same source. (5 volts) What else could I look for? * | __O Thomas C.
