I can now get back into my regular account. I left my orginal account in place, deleted some test accounts that I had created, and turned off the Welcome screen for logon. I can now get logged into my regular account with no problem The 'classic' login prompts for a password but, since there isn't one set, I just hit 'Enter' and away it goes. :=) Thanks to all who helped on this issue. I'll be following up on those other suggestions to try to determine what the original problem was. For now, I'm in good shape. (That sure beat doing a complete re-install of XP.)
