Russell, Phoenix in July is not so bad. 1. Wear shorts 2. Wear 100% cotton loose T shirts 3. Wear a wide brim hat 4. Stay inside a lot. 5. carry a water bottle. 6. Wear sandals In other words, look like a hippy. Not a problem for you, right? When I visited Master's 2 years ago, my dad's car was on the fritz so we took the bus everywhere. Standing by a bus stop in the shade was not too bad, although the thermometer was a good bit above body temperature. If you dress in anything resembling normal office wear, you are toast. -- Lawrence Lile Russell McMahon Sent by: pic microcontroller discussion list 06/22/2004 12:29 AM Please respond to pic microcontroller discussion list To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU cc: Subject: Re: [PIC]: Master's 2004 > 4. Go with shorts and Tevas. FWIW - I was in Phoenix last year in early July and it was about the hottest place I've ever been outside Death Valley - and that was the hottest recorded summer ever world-wide. This includes France in the period that 20,000 more people than usual died due to the heat. And everywhere we went in Europe they said that the particular day we visited was the hottest day they knew of locally. Phoenix was so hot that standing next to a running car was a hazard - you literally burnt you feet from the exhaust heat flowing out from under the car. (Usually this just feels warm - at about 45 C ambient it causes pain). Maybe Phoenixians see things differently :-) RM -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different ways.
