Completely stock. I managed to pick up 4 seconds a lap just by learning to drive better, I've pretty much reached the limits of the stock car at the moment so I'm looking at some semi slick racing tyres and adjustable suspension next... We also do a bit of autocross / motorkhana stuff, but the local racing regulatory body mandates that they be extremely tight, low speed events so it can be a little un-fun. The yoko AVS1000's are supposedly very good, I have some A539's at the moment, which are about 1.5 seconds a lap slower than the original equipment tyres (bridgestone turanzas, an excellent tyre when warmed up nicely) Probably shouldn't say much more as it's getting veeery off topic :) -----Original Message----- From: pic microcontroller discussion list [mailto:PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU] On Behalf Of Robert Ussery Sent: Wednesday, 16 June 2004 1:59 AM To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU Subject: Re: [OT]: speed and red light cameras, was detecting emergency ve hicles >-----Original Message----- >From: pic microcontroller discussion list >[mailto:PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU] On Behalf Of Liam O'Hagan >I have a miata too (well, an MX5 anyway, that's what it's called over >here) One of the members of the local club had a folding license plate >but was booked for it, I had no plate on the front of the car for well >over 1 year until I was 'advised' to put it back on at a random breath >test. Around here, I haven't heard of anyone being ticketed for having a folder, and very few people (especially with Miatas) ever get ticketed for having a missing plate. I think the penalty's US $50... No biggie. >I haven't been booked for speeding in about 7 years (66km/hr in a 60 >zone, 3 AM in one of the other states), but a few friends have. I'm 18), but I've had a few close ones with the speed cameras. >Most of us >prefer to get our speed thrills off the road, mostly here : >www.wakefieldpark.com.au Fun stuff! Is your MX-5 stock, or do you have a turbo, racing suspension, etc.? Mine's totally stock: http://users.frii.com/lmalpais/miata/miata.html I haven't taken it on the track yet, because I don't have the time or the money to install a roll-bar. I have done a couple of AutoX events with it, however. My present tires, however, are a little scary, as they're 5 years old, dry-rotted, and hard as hell. Once I can get some 16" rims and some stickier tires, I'll probably get a little more serious about racing it. I'm thinking of getting some Yoko AVS1000's. They look like a good compromise between street and mild AutoX. TTYL - Robert -- http://www.piclist.com hint: PICList Posts must start with ONE topic: [PIC]:,[SX]:,[AVR]: ->uP ONLY!
