A hint, but I'm not sure if it will actually help... Look at Gnuplot (www.gnuplot.info). I THINK you can drive it via command line interface, so you could conceivably do the interface fairly easily. It has VERY powerful graphing capablities...I've barely begun to scratch the surface.
