NSlookup failed . It seemed the DNS system may habe been down.
Mayhaps sefvices using specific domain names would work OK.
As email is isp-isp I imagine that they don't depend on DNS the way the
browser does.
Not that I know enough about the detail to be sure I'm not talking rubbish
