There's been a lot of talk on the JalList about a pretty neat PIC interface to an NE2000 Ethernet card. But I figured if you used a 20Mhz chip, then it works out perfectly to send 10Mbps packets in Manchester encoding without any real external help. Carrier sense and collision detection wouldn't be easy, but if you're on a really low traffic network, you can make due without them. Has this already been done? Or am I just wrong? Google popped up this project, but I'm not really familiar with whatever it is they're using: http://www.fpga4fun.com/10BASE-T.html -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The PICList is archived three different ways.
