You must not have checked prices lately.  My Tek TDS2014 has 4 channels,
a pretty good storage time and 100 MHz BW, just under $2kUS new.  Tek
offers similar models which can be had cheaper used, too.

This is my at-work scope; I'm thinking hard about trying to get one like it
for home.
