As the line had a pull-up on it, any pin would have done. In fact it may have been less convenient from a h/w POV to use A4 as you'd need to add an external pull-up. PortB has enableable (!) 200uA pull-ups, but I'm not familiar with the DS18S20 and can't say whether that is enough to pull it up.
