Tim, Look at the PIC18F6720, it has 2 USARTs. I used 1 for interfacing to a PC (RS232) for the main interface and I used the second one for a "service port". Only problem is most of the chips with 2 USARTs are in the bigger packages. Steve >>> tim_webb@AGILENT.COM 6/3/2004 12:18:25 PM >>> Not only would that be cool, but what if it had 2 USARTs in an 8-pin package... I have not searched Microchip's site yet, but does anybody know if microchip has any PICs with more than one USART? It sure would be nice to have an extra USART so I don't have to bit-bang my SPI/I2C when my RS-232 is already being used. Nothing on Microchip site in 12F section yet. Looks like a 8Mhz (internal osc) 12F629 with some low power stuff thrown in. What I really want is hardware SPI/I2C in a 8 pin flash part. A USART in a 8 pin flash part would be cool too. :-) -- http://www.piclist.com#nomail Going offline?
