Hi Jim, The Programming Executive (PE) sounds like a great idea to me -- from what I read so far, I like the direction Microchip is going with this. It's sort of like having a DLL or firmware API -- with the PE, everyone uses a framework or common base of (hopefully) tested code and programming devices with the PE shortens the programming specification development cycle to some degree and eliminates personal interpretations and implementations of the programming specification. But it appears that if the PE is missing or needs to be upgraded the Standard DUT Programming (STDP) Protocol still needs to be implemented; still a nice system of doing things.
