I like the VIA Mini-ITX boards. You can find them from: http://www.viamainboard.com/ If you want something even smaller, they came out with their first Nano-ITX board (around 4" x 4"). When I get some real money I'll get one of these. They easily run off of battery power (I accidentally ran mine for four hours earlier this week on a 9 amp-hour SLA battery).
