Hello, I agree that the TC-80N3 is worth the money. Definately. The RS-80N3 is definately a rip off. Given that the connector was a box standard 2.5 mm jack plug on previous cameras, and is now something which is not obtainable, but which can have no other benefit - it doesn't even take up less space, it is clear that Cannon have done this simply to sell more accessories (which is their perogative). I started designing a home made timer, not knowing of the TC-80N3. It turns out that PS2 socket recepticles are a perfect fit for the pins on the 10D and I was going to try home brew a plug, but it's just not worth the hassle. I will probably just buy a TC-80N3. All the best....Mike. ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Tuesday, May 18, 2004 6:11 PM Subject: Re: [PIC]:Camera remote control. > If you want the TC-80N3 remote, which IMHO is worth the price, then you could cut the connector off of it and replace it with a mini-headphone jack. Or get the RS-80N3, which is cheaper than the extention cord. > A while back, I got some stuff from Edmund Scientific that's some type of plastic which is moldable like clay. But after you mold it to a shape, you put it in the oven and it hardens. Probably a lot safer than spraying WD-40 on your camera. But the N3 has a little spring clip around the edge which snaps to the camera body and holds it in. So any home-made version wouthout the clip will only be held in by the friction of the pins. --- Outgoing mail is certified as Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
