Now you are having to get me to admit the same thing. In my beginnings in
electronics I can remember spending hours trying to get two diodes to ampify
too! Oh well.....that's what you get when you don't learn the basic
semiconductor theory.
EPE magazine (Dec 2003 Page 826) has a good tutorial on transistors. It is a
good read.
