I have built a roof mounted system as follows:

a. wind speed - Dallas 2423 with a hall effect switch triggered by a
rotor
mounted magnet

b. wind direction - Dallas 2450 with two 360 degree pots mounted 180
degrees

apart

c. temp/humidity - SHT11 sensor

PIC 16F628 communicates with 1-Wire devices and SHT11 and displays info
on
2x24 LCD using two screens.  Also sends data every minute on RS232 link
to
PC for logging.
