Hi Mike the bit rate needed is quite low (10Mbs) the optical connection is SMA. this are full modules, what I need is the optical connector with the photodiodes for RX/TX the rest of the module I have with it's own protocol which is custom not a specific one. I just need to find a replacement for the RX/TX part not the module. regards Luis -----Original Message----- From: Michael Rigby-Jones [mailto:Michael.Rigby-Jones@BOOKHAM.COM] Sent: 13 May 2004 08:00 To: PICLIST@mitvma.mit.edu Subject: Re: ] fibre-optics TX/RXl >-----Original Message----- >From: Luis Moreira [mailto:Luis.Moreira@JET.EFDA.ORG] >Sent: 13 May 2004 07:50 >To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU >Subject: [EE:] fibre-optics TX/RXl > > >Hi Guys >I am trying to repair an old unit which uses half duplex >serial communications to communicate with the other unit, it's >used as a serial optic link. this system uses only one fibre >as at the time it was built fibres were very expensive. You can buy small transceiver modules that work at 100Mbs or 155Mbs fairly cheaply in the industry standard 1x9 package, but you will need to deal with the PECL interfaces. http://www.lasermate.com/vcsel_transceivers.htm Regards Mike ======================================================================= This e-mail is intended for the person it is addressed to only.
