I've got two Dells now (for the kids, right?) that were significant bargins, and the fact that Dell controls all the components let them do nice things with the CPU cooling that makes them about 3 times quieter than the 'assembled from parts' PC that has separate CPU and chipset fans in addition to the power supply fan. And they were close to 1/3 the price, too. Handcrafted quality tools have their place. So do disposable tools; so far the Dells have worked fine (and the DEALS. Both systems were about $350. One included Microsoft office SBE, one included a GE ethernet interface and a $200 discount off a 17inch LCD. And a writable CD. They're not quite the way I'd want them, but the price was unbeatable.) BillW -- http://www.piclist.com hint: The list server can filter out subtopics (like ads or off topics) for you.
