Maybe. Another problem with eyelets is that they require a significantly larger hole. Between that and the already rather coarse capabilities of homebrew, you can lose the ability to route tracks between DIP pins, which makes everything a lot tougher to route. Likewise, against wires, routers like to route signals through pins rather than dedicating vias. So you need room for wire PLUS pin. And/or you have to be careful which types of component pins are doubled as vias, since not all components allow soldering on both top and bottom. Together, this means you have to change a lot of the thinking process you use in designing a board if it will be created without THP.
