Actually that should work just fine. Check the voltage on the charger. If it's
13.8V or so (2.3V/cell) then you can charge indefinitely. If it's 14.4V
(2.4V/cell) then make sure that it has a cutoff either by time or voltage.

SLA's are pretty forgiving.
