ps ax | grep tty

You should see something like this:

1510 tty1     S      0:00 /sbin/mingetty tty1
1511 tty2     S      0:00 /sbin/mingetty tty2
1512 tty3     S      0:00 /sbin/mingetty tty3
1513 tty4     S      0:00 /sbin/mingetty tty4
1514 tty5     S      0:00 /sbin/mingetty tty5
1515 tty6     S      0:00 /sbin/mingetty tty6
2595 pts/7    S      0:00 grep tty



tty1-6 are the virtual terminals.


You could always connect another computer to that serial port and see what the
daemon is sending over the serial port.
