For that check out my carmondi project: http://repatch.dyndns.org:8383/pic_stuff/carmondi/ It captures the speed in a stream (and converts it to km/h). Distance isn't directly output by the GPS unit I use (which makes sense since how would it know when I want zero distance?). However, since you get speed every second distance simply becomes the integral of the speed.
