No, I meant setting it to output was safer. Re-reading my own
post now I can see that I wasn't clear. It should have read:

"That said, setting it to output (and leaving it O/C) is safer than setting
it to input and tying it to one rail but then accidently setting the I/O as
output and drive it the opposite way."
