There's a guy around here, who hits the hamfests selling silver/teflon wire in about 8-10 colors, in 50' lengths, and miniature coax. I buy a fair bit from him. You can wrap this stuff around your soldering iron and it won't melt. No insulation melt or pullback at the joints.
