Macs, of course, have never had parallel ports, and lost both serial
and adb (Mac equivilent of PS2, more or less) ports about the time the
very first iMac came out, and have been all USB/Firewire since then,
and work just fine (well, they work as well as Macs ever worked... :-)

As you say, a motherboard that is USB only had been support USB in the
BIOS and boot firmware.  That's NOT hard...
