Good idea - I'll give it a shot. Have you ever tried one? I'm wondering that if my PC doesn't have the serial port how will the hardware interface work with something like hyperterminal? Right now in hyperterminal it gives me the option of "software modem" and COM3. Do the devices come with a driver that takes care of all that? I also don't have any idea what COM3 is... Thanks for the suggestion! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jake Anderson" To: Sent: Wednesday, April 14, 2004 11:25 PM Subject: Re: ] Alternate serial port? > USB to serial port adapters retail for around $50 or so i think > most computer stores seem to have them > > its odd to have a prallell and no serial > > -----Original Message----- > From: pic microcontroller discussion list > [mailto:PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU]On Behalf Of Robert B. > Sent: Thursday, April 15, 2004 2:18 PM > To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU > Subject: [EE:] Alternate serial port? > > > I've got one of these new-fangled laptops that are too good for things like > floppy drives and serial ports.
