I've used a very simple level reduction design on the input pins of the MMC.  The PIC inputs will work on the 3.3v output of the MMC.  I didn't invent it, can't remember where I found it.

Laugh if you will, it works.  It keeps working when the PIC is running at 3.3v, too.
