 You might like to consider a product called 'SoftLA' by BGMicro.  It's
inexpensive, works well for it's purpose, and is simple.  It uses the
parallel printer port on your computer.  Add a few  wires, some clips at
the end, a D25 connector at the other end,  and the software.  Depending
on your port, you can have a s many
 as 16 traces at once.   The faster your computer, the faster the
 setup will sample.  With a lowly 166 Mhz Pentium notebook, I can  get
into the 100's of ns with little trouble.  If I use fewer traces,  I can
get somewhat faster accesses.  For the money, it's a bargain in
 my book.   I have used it several times on PIC projects, and it's been
 a big help.

 Anyway, just food for thought.
