If it was burnt as UDF then only a really new OS (or an OS with the right driver) will be able to read it. If it was burned without 8.3 filenames (joilet only) then that will also prevent reading on non windows platforms. I always try to burn all discs in ISO9660 format (and that includes DVDs) with both joilet and normal filenames. It's a little restrictive (mostly on directory depth, characters used and filename length), but it tends to have the largest compatibility.
