You might try this new software package: http://www.otl.co.uk/ It looks promising and getting in on the ground floor could be an inexpensive way to have the fully released version in the future. Unfortunately, EDA software is a niche market with relatively few target "seats" and requires an incredible effort to produce professional quality tools -- hence the large prices of most good tools.
