Some 'experience':

Somewhat positive:
I found some errors in datasheets (an interchange of the deviceIDs of
the 16F767 and 16F777, even in the errata DS80177a-1). But in the device
info (PICxxxxxx.DEV) files in MPLAB 6.50 the device IDs are correct for
these PICS!

Negative:
I found also errors in the device info files. Most PICs have a revision
code of 5 bits, some use 4 bits. But in the device info files of the
appropriate PICs still a mask of 5 bits is defined.
For my XWisp2 program I'm extracting the info I need from these files
systematically, and I see lots of omissions!

BTW. I don't report errors to MicroChip anymore. I have twice reported
the doc error I mentioned above, per E-mail to the address that
MicroChip specifies in its site for this purpose and in the
Mocrocontroller Errata forum. But I got no response, nor did I see a
correction. It gives me the feeling talking to a wall, and although they
say walls have ears, this one apparently hasn't!
