I worked with another company that would pick and place odd form parts with a robot and a vibratory feeder. The vibe feeder is an ingenious device, if you have ever watched on work they seem like magic. Imagine how a big copper mine looks from the air - a pit with a road winding spirally from the top to the bottom. Miniturize that until it is 24" across, and shake it. Pour a bucket of parts into the bin. They will slowly climb the road as they are shaken.. Every once in a whlie along the spiral road there is a little bump or gate that organizes the parts until they are all climbing the same direction. The robot can them pick them all up and place them without having to flip them about. It is pretty fascinating technology. If you need the name I can dredge it up... -- Lawrence Lile Senior Project Engineer Toastmaster, Inc. I need it on tape and reel to be surface mounted by machine. Two pieces of brass shim stock might do... Or how about one piece of shim stock with a razor blade cut "X"??
