They wrote omega as
~  <FONT SIZE=3 FACE="WP Greek Century">S</FONT>
rather than
~  &#x03A9;

So it only shows up as omega if someone has a font called "WP Greek
Century" installed and set their browser allowing page-specified fonts.
~ The other way of writing it, as a UTF-8 character, lets it show up in
any font that provides an omega.
