The problem with Miami is that there are very bad areas, decent areas and= very=20 good areas. The tourist crime problems occur when people don't know what= =20 they're doing, or where they are going, and don't ask. During regular ho= urs=20 in popular areas, Miami is just like any other city. To add to the confusion, news reporters in Miami love drama -- more so th= an=20 any other city I know. During all the tourist crimes in Miami a decade a= go,=20 other major cities had far worse crimes, even against tourists, but they = know=20 how not to badly publicize these things. :-) Inform yourself and you'll be okay.
