I'm trying to see how far I can go and still work within the course syllabus that I wrote last summer. That is on page 8 of http://www.jump.net/~vima/job/job_statements_generic_2003.pdf in case you are curious. I particularly want to practice writing a project statement that can stand for a year, prior to knowing all the final details. So, for the moment, I'm making a serial cable that itself is intelligent and on the internet. I'm working on a blend of topics 5 (packetized communication) and 6 (data logging with timestamps). If I can simply notice ntp packets that are going through the device anyway, I end up with time that is traceable back to international standards, expertise in PPP and the ntp protocol. I am tempted to try to force my computer-provider to talk without compression so that I have straight ahead packets to decode. - --- Aubrey McIntosh http://www.piclist.com/member/AM-vima-Y84 PIC/PICList FAQ: http://www.piclist.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGPfreeware 7.0.3 for non-commercial use iQA/AwUBQGSuuAKlSw8yssF7EQLl6gCeLexossBOAgYauaDJvU/rzIq3rMIAnjfj LgdgqKcEhOnGGAKgSJH7OqPD =QcMv -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- http://www.piclist.com hint: To leave the PICList mailto:piclist-unsubscribe-request@mitvma.mit.edu
